  Observation. Multiple toilet stalls did not have a toilet paper holder installed

  Corrective action. Manager will install paper towel holders in stalls that did not have one.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. In the classrooms upstairs, there are blind cords that are accessible.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that all blind cords in the whole facility are not accessible to children.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

  Observation. 7 staff files were reviewed and one staff did not have reference checks available.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff have references completed and documented. Manager explained that staff's reference checks were called but did not have any documentation.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. 8 staff files were reviewed and one staff did not have a cleared criminal record check on file.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff have a cleared criminal record check on file while working with children. Manager explained that this staff is fairly new and has had trouble applying through the BC Services app which is the process. Staff will apply in person instead.
