    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The back gate from the playground was in poor repair and not closing properly. There is currently 4 bungee cords holding the gate shut. The toilet paper roll dispensers are not able to be opened and toilet rolls re-stocked. Toilet paper was currently placed on top of the toilets. Emergency lights in the Preschool 2 classroom are constantly blinking.

    Corrective action. Ensure the equipment and fixtures are clean and in good repair.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -some vinyl furniture, tumble mats and diaper change mats are starting to show signs or wear and tear. The vinyl is starting to fray revealing the foam underneath making it difficult to clean and disinfect. -The edge of a counter in one of the classrooms was damaged. -Window bumpers are damaged. -Glue residue on a window. -Paint on a play kitchen in one of the classrooms is chipping. -The compost bin was uncovered and accessible to children in one of the classrooms.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the community care facility and furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -The manager could not describe an effective manner of cleaning and disinfecting. Licensing provided education on the multistep cleaning and disinfecting required. Further observation indicated that the facility is equipped with supplies for proper cleaning and disinfecting once the multi step process is implemented. -The facility did not have any paper towels available at the time of inspection. A clarifying conversation with the manager indicated that the paper towels have been ordered but have not arrived yet. Licensing provided education on the importance of drying hands as part of complete handwahisng protocol and that tissues are not an effective way to complete the hand drying step.

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

    Observation. Licensing observed that two under 36 months classrooms' regular staffing plan was insufficient. The regular staff in 2 under 36 months programs consist of one Infant toddler educator and one ECE assistant. Licensing provided education on appropriate staffing as outlined in schedule E of the regulations.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Two facility fire extinguishers were past due for annual maintenance. -Expired food in several classrooms' emergency kits.

    Corrective action. Ensure systems are established to maintain and replenish the facility's emergency supplies.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. The facility uses paper attendance sheets along with electronic ones. A clarifying conversation with the manager indicated that the paper attendance sheets are meant to keep track of children should they have to move from one room to another. Licensing noted that at the time of inspection, the paper attendance was incorrect with several children not signed out of programs once they left the classroom and or the facility.

    Corrective action. Ensure all attendance records are maintained accurately.
