  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. April ad May fire drills were not recorded.

  Corrective action. Manager will send plan to resolve.

• A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. The metal perimeter of the outdoor play space has areas where there are sharp/rough corners and edges. A number of injuries/incidents have been related to the metal perimeter. Additionally, children have access to the elevated perimeter which can be hot in the summer and slippery in the winter.

  Corrective action. Discussion had with the manager in regard to coming up with a permanent solution to the contravention noted above. Please provide a written plan to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before February 28, 2025.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Some care plans in place for children may need an updated review. .

  Corrective action. Manager stated moving forward, all care plans will be reviewed with parents once a year.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. A random sampling of staff files were reviewed and one file did not have a facility specific criminal record check.

  Corrective action. Enusre to have site specific criminal record checks

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.

  Observation. There is a blue chair in the infant room and a wooden kitchen in the toddler room that are starting to show wear and tear and cannot be sanitized effectively.

  Corrective action. Ensure furniture and equipment are in good repair

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. In one classroom the drywall is chipped and the paint is peeling in one area

  Corrective action. Ensure the facility is in good repair at all times. Discussion around alternative materials on the lower part of the wall to assist with this.

  Observation. 2 staff files did not have current validation evidence on file

  Corrective action. Ensure each staff file has this information.

  Corrective action. Ensure all staff have a valid criminal record check on file; this staff cannot work alone until they have obtained one.
