A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed the following; Indoors: - blind cords in classrooms accessible Outdoors: - wooden siding broken, causing sharp edges, in 30 months to school-age playground

Observation. Medication required for two children's care plan were not available.

Corrective action. The Manager will acquire required medication.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Licensing reviewed eight child files, three did not contain doctor's information and two did not contain emergency contact information.

Corrective action. Corrective plan to be submitted.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing reviewed eight child files, four did not contain start dates.

Corrective action. Corrective plan to be submitted.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Licensing reviewed eight children's files, three did not contain MSP numbers.

A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

Observation. Licensing reviewed eight child files, one did not contain consent to medical treatment.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. Licensing reviewed five staff files, one did not contain references.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.

Observation. Licensing reviewed five staff files, two did not contain resumes.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Licensing reviewed five staff files, one did not contain certificate validation.

Corrective action. Corrective plan to be submitted.

Observation. Based on the Manager's interview and children's attendance, Licensing determined that children from two separate programs were mixed for more than half an hour in the morning between 7:30am and 9:00am on several occasions.

Corrective action. Written response required.

Observation. Children left unsupervised by staff while using the bathroom.

Corrective action. Licensee will create a plan to remedy.

Observation. Certificates of three current staff were not posted in the facility.

Corrective action. Licensee will post certificates.

Observation. Cleaning supplies, garbage bags and furnace/hot water tank accessible to the children.

Corrective action. Licensee has installed child locks.

Observation. Staff files missing references, resumes, immunization status and certificate validations.

Corrective action. Licensee will update all staff files.

Observation. Child over the age of 3 years remained in the infant/toddler program.

Corrective action. Licensee has submitted an retention form for this child.

Observation. There was no IT staff opening the IT program.

Corrective action. Licensee will schedule appropriate staff to open.
