  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. Garbage on the ground in the outdoor play space.

  Corrective action. Ensure a clean play space.

• Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. Licensing observed a child over the age of 36 months old in the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) Program.

  Corrective action. Licensee must submit an action plan by August 13, 2025 on how this contravention will be addressed.

  Observation. Bleach was stored under the washroom sink accessible for children.

  Observation. One child from 3-5 classroom was missing medical practitioner's name and phone number on file

  Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. No evidence of verification of ECE certificate for one staff

  Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. The gap under the white railing and the wooden baby gate upstairs are approximately 5" and on the other baby gates is 3.5" . This is an entrapment issue.

  Corrective action. Ensure the gaps under the railing are less than 3" or are covered up in a way that a child cannot get under it.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Facility is planning to install industrial toilet paper holders in the washrooms. As they have not yet been installed, the facility is still using the large rolls, storing the large toilet paper rolls on top of the stall in an manner that would not be considered sanitary (Lots of handling of the roll in order to pull the paper off, etc). Regular toilet paper holders which can hold a regular roll of toilet paper are also available but were empty at the time of inspection.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that toilet paper is stored in a sanitary manner, allowing for the least amount of handling when having to be dispensed.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. When Licensig Officer inquired about the Emergency Drill, Manager was not sure where the emergency drill location was located. Upon review of the policies for the Center, it was noted that it would be a school nearby, however, the address and name of the school was not identified within the policies, making it unclear to parents as to the exact location of the emergency drill location.

  Corrective action. Please ensure staff are familiar with the emergency drill location. Please also ensure that parents are also familiar with the emergency location as they may be required to pick up from this location should there be an emergency.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. 6 children's files reviewed, one child was missing emergency contact information and one was missing Dr. information. Manager stated that the children were new to the province. Discussed acceptable practice of inputting a local walk in clinic the family may attend.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children's files are complete.
