A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. The water temperature in one bathroom is 54.1 degrees Celsius
Corrective action. Ensure water temperature is no greater than 49 degrees Celsius
11230 - CCLR s.47 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. -Children climb a tree and jump off limbs in the outdoor area without any resilient surface below and where there are metal trucks. -A rope swing is located in the front play area over a number of roots with no resilient surfacing below -food is stored in a washroom -materials are stored in the bathroom in the bathtub next to the toilet. -an unknown cleaner is used to sanitize tables. The cleaner is placed in a 4 Lt. water jug and labeled using marker. There is no information on the material or the cautions needed. -metal fencing was placed along the wood fencing with spaces 6 inches or 8 inches in width. This poses an entrapment hazard. -Some areas of the metal fencing was cut leaving sharp edges. -A large window located in the bathroom where people from outside the bathroom can see the child on the toilet. The Manager said that the window is not covered because they would like to see the children in the toilet.
Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is maintained at all times.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The following was observed: -The nap mats were in poor condition with the material degrading on the corners. -it appears that mold was on multiple window frames in first room where the emergency exit door is located. On the second day of inspection some of the mold appeared to be washed off. -electrical cords outside next to the children's toys and rabbit hutch had cobwebs covering them posing a fire hazard -a plastic boat used for children to sit in had standing water in it.
Corrective action. Ensure that the facility is clean and in good repair.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (b) a wash basin.
Observation. The staff were unaware of a sturdy surface used for diaper changes.
Corrective action. Ensure that a sturdy surface used for diaper changes is available.

Observation. Licensing observed the following potential hazards: - two lamps placed above the height of children with unsecured cords accessible to children which could pose a hazard if a child were to pull the cord causing the lamp to fall. - a suspended unsecured electrical cord behind a shed in the outdoor play space where the children do not play; however, a child could potentially access this area as it is unsecured and in a blind spot - a cleaning product and essential oils stored in an unlatched drawer within children's reach in the bathroom -open bags of road salt with a 'keep out of reach of children' label on the porch outside of the back door, accessible to children when they play outside
Corrective action. A staff removed the items in the bathroom drawer and moved the lamps during the inspection. The cord behind the shed will be removed or secured or inaccessible and the road salt will be removed from children's access.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At the time of arrival, the record of attendance was not accurate is it did not indicate that two children had left the program.

A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation. A section of the metal fencing around the children's outdoor play space on the large side is broken and large enough for a child to exit. The same section of fencing has a broken sharp metal point at children's height. A sharp fence end at children's height near the gate between the front and back play areas was also observed.
Corrective action. Ensure that the entire outdoor play area is enclosed in a manner that ensures that children are free from harm.

Observation. After 3:35 pm, an ECEA was caring for 6 children without an ECE on site. Although an application for an ECE certificate has been submitted to the ECE Registry, the staff is not yet qualified as an ECE.
Corrective action. Ensure to maintain ratio's as per CCLR Schedule E at all times.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - a container labeled 'poison' in an unlatched cupboard below the kitchen sink - an unsecured blind cord accessible to children in the main play area, posing a potential risk of entanglement; a staff corrected this during the inspection - two metal upward pointing, outward projecting brackets, which previously held a planter of flowers, attached to the exterior of the building and positioned at children's height in an activity area on the outside deck. Without the planter in place, the brackets pose a potential risk of injury if a child were to fall onto a bracket. At the time of inspection, no children were outside and a staff assured that the planter would be in place on the brackets prior to children playing outside in future.
Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
