- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The following was noted: -Facility recently had a leak from the bathroom sink above the daycare. There is a large brown water stain and bubbling paint within the daycare hallway. Licensee stated that it happened a month ago and have been waiting to ensure the area has dried before replacing the part of the ceiling where the leak had occurred. -There is some cracked cement at the top of the stairs which has created a small divot between the wood and the step. It can act as a tripping hazard.
Corrective action. Please provide your plan for remediation in regard to the water damage as well as your written response on or before April 15, 2026

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Fire extinguisher was due to be serviced in January, 2026.
Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before April 15, 2026

(Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Sub staff were missing proof of validation within their file. Licensee checked validation at the time of inspection.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed a play climber and slide, in the wood chip area, placed right against the outdoor fence. This is a potential hazard as a child can fall or climb over the fence into the neighbouring yard and injure themselves. Licensing provided education to ensure the appropriate distance between a climbing structure and fence.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. Licensing observed that the Manager's name is not posted anywhere within the community care facility. The Manager informed Licensing that the facility was recently repainted and the Manager's name was not put back up on the wall.
Corrective action. Please ensure that both the Licence and the name of the Manager is displayed in a prominent place within the community care facility.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Upon a discussion with the Manager Licensing observed that an emergency drill was practiced for 2021 but not recorded. Licensing provided education on ensuring that all fire and emergency drills are recorded.
Corrective action. Please ensure that current records are kept respecting fire and emergency drills.

In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation. Licensing was unable to review the policies and procedures because they were not at the community care facility. The Manager informed Licensing that they must have given the last copy to a parent.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children and staff records and policies and procedures are kept in a single place at the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing observed the following; - the grass area where the children play has many overgrown weeds and grass. - an aroma diffuser is sitting on a high window ledge. The wire for the diffuser is hanging and accessible to children. Potential for a child to pull on the wire and have the diffuser fall on them.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times when children are in care.

Observation. Upon a review of 4 children records, Licensing observed 1 child's record missing the date of enrolment.

Observation. Licensing observed that all the water and food in the emergency bag has expired. Licensing provided education on ensuring that there are sufficient supplies in the emergency back for the children in care and staff to last up to 72 hours. Licensing suggested having a system in place to ensure that the emergency supplies are maintained.
Corrective action. Please ensure that there is an emergency plan in place that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
