A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. An emergency and fire drill log was maintained, however, was not accurate.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Some of the food in the emergency bag is expired.

Corrective action. Ensure that any established plan to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency is up to date.

The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. A child who has a recoded allergy does not have a care plan developed in consultation with the parent or any person requested by the parent.

Corrective action. Ensure children's information is reviewed and supporting documentation is obtained.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. Manager's name was not posted in the facility

Corrective action. Please ensure that Licence and the name of the manager is prominently posted in the facility.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. Review of 6 children files observed 4 children were missing photo or digital image to identify the child in the event emergency.

Corrective action. Ensure that all children files are complete.

A licensee must keep (a) in the case of employees, all records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements] for the entire time that the subject of the records is an employee of the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing reviewed two staff files. A new hired staff, working on site during inspection, did not have records of her documentation on file.

Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete and available for inspection review. .

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Upon a review of the attendance records for the month of March, Licensing observed three days that children were not signed out in the Group Child Care (SA) program.

Corrective action. Please ensure that attendance records are accurate on a daily basis.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Licensing observed the following that are accessible to children in care: - Three cleaning solution spray bottles on the sink counter. Children go to this sink to wash their hands. - In the Group child Care (School Age) a child's epi-pen in their backpack that is hanging on the coat hook. Potential of another child accessing the epi-pen. Licensing provided only as suggestions where the child's backpack can be stored but still accessible to the child who requires the epi-pen. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION)

Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

A licensee must have all of the following: (a) emergency exits and a fire drill system approved by a local assistant within the meaning of the Fire Services Act.

Observation. Upon conversation with the Manager Licensing observed that the program does not have access to the fire extinguisher located in the school. The hallway in which the fire extinguisher is located is not accessible to the program due to construction occurring. Potential hazard in the event of a fire. Licensing provided only as a suggestion to have a fire extinguisher within the program.

Corrective action. Please ensure that you have emergency exits and a fire drill system approved by a local assistant within the meaning of the Fire Services Act.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Upon a review of three out of ten children's records Licensing observed one child's record missing immunization status information.

Corrective action. Please ensure that children's records are complete prior to the child attending the care facility.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.

Observation. Upon a review of four staff records Licensing observed one staff missing a resume.

Corrective action. Please ensure that staff records are complete prior to the staff working at the care facility.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,

Observation. Upon a review of four staff records Licensing observed one staff record missing validation of their Early Childhood Educator certificate.

Corrective action. Please ensure that staff records are complete prior to the staff working at the care facility.
