- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. One of the entrances to the facility is a set of stairs at the back of the building. Children were observed climbing on and around the stairs and railings, eating snack at the top of the stairs and going up and down the stairs in an unsafe manner. LO spoke with the manager about the use of stairs during the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure a safe environment is provided at all times.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. The children did not wash their hands prior to eating their snack outside. The manager had hand sanitizer available but not all of the children used it. LO spoke with the manager about best practices for using soap and water for cleaning hands over hand sanitizer during the inspection. This is a repeat contravention.

15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - OR SUPERVISION
A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation. The manager is the only staff working in the program with the children. During the course of the inspection some of the children were inside the program using the facilities while some other children were outside the facility. This practice reduces the effectiveness of supervision of the group and was reviewed with the manager during the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure practices ensure supervision of children at all times.
