A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - There is climbing equipment over the concrete with no resilient surface below. -Children are riding tricycles with no helmets. -car seats in the vehicle is visually in disrepair and the Licensee contact was unable to find the expiry date at time of inspection.
Corrective action. Reviewed the Director of Licensing Standard of practice safe space when discussing the healthy and safe environment in regards to resilient surfacing and helmets. The Manger is going to ensure that resilient surfacing and protective equipment is available to children outdoors. The car seats must meet Canada car seat safety.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation. 3 garbage cans were blocking an emergency exit out of the play yard.
Corrective action. Ensure that emergency exits are not blocked or hampered.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. The original license was not posted and the Licensee contact said she will bring it to the facility to post. The name of the Manager was not posted.
Corrective action. Ensure that the original license and the name of the manager is posted.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep a record referred to in section 57 [records for each child] for at least 2 years from the date the child who is the subject of the record is discharged from the community care facility.
Observation. A child who is no longer attending the child care program does not have any records at the facility.
Corrective action. Ensure that records are kept for at least 2 years after they are discharged from the community care facility.

Observation. One child who is transferred between two different facilities does not have accurate attendance details when the child is in care and when they have been removed from care

Observation. Three children do not have any record of a medical practitioner name or contact number.

Observation. The facility documents did not identify any area to write if a person is not permitted to access a child.
Corrective action. Ensure that you have a record for anyone not permitted to access a child.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. -Wear and tear on facility walls and door frame at entrance. There is chipping paint in several places. -An area of the bathroom flooring has been covered with a material which is not sanitizable. -There is paper tape being used on one of the diaper change mats causing the mat to be unsanitizeable.
Corrective action. Ensure equipment, furniture and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair.

Observation. Throughout the backyard in the grass, there were multiple clusters of mushrooms growing.
Corrective action. Please ensure grass is maintained and mushrooms are removed. They must be checked everyday.

Observation. The linoleum in the washroom is in disrepair and not a smooth surface for effective cleaning and sanitizing.
Corrective action. Please ensure lino is in good repair and smooth. Please provide a plan that includes a timeline by November 1, 2023, how this will be addressed.

Observation. Licensing observed the following at today's inspection; - Drywall was exposed on the ceiling in the washroom around the exhaust fan. - A broken table in the outdoor play yard.
Corrective action. Ensure furniture and equipment is clean and in good repair.

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. The children washroom water temperature was measured 53.1 degree Celsius.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Manager was not aware of emergency plan and procedures that includes location of emergency supplies, records of last emergency drills and safe meeting spot in case emergency evacuation.
Corrective action. Please ensure to have an emergency plan in place to mitigate, respond and to recover from any emergency. All staff must be trained to evacuate children safely. Emergency drill must be conducted and recorded once an year.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. There were 6 children in care at the time of inspection, however, only 5 children were signed in on attendance sheet.
Corrective action. Please ensure attendance records are complete.
