    A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

    Observation. The Manager's name was not posted anywhere within the community care facility.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed a big wooden block pallet standing against the shed outside. The wooden pallet is not secured to anything and a potential to fall on a child and injure them. Licensing discussed that the wooden block would need to be secured if children were to use it.

    Corrective action. The Manager said that they will be moving the pallet out of the outdoor play area.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following;- - Garbage in the outdoor play area. - The black tarp underlay in the outdoor woodchip area exposed in several areas. Tripping hazard. - Couple of light switches, walls and baseboards moulding that are dirty with brown stains on them.

    Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

    A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

    Observation. Licensing observed six balls, in the outdoor play area, that are deflated.

    Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (k) the date on which the child stops attending the community care facility.

    Observation. When inquiring about a child's emergency medication found in the first aid box, Licensing was informed that the child no longer attends the facility. However, there was no date recorded on when the child stopped attending the community care facility. Discussion had and education provided.

    Corrective action. The Manager will record the last date that the child stopped attending the community care facility.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. Upon a review of seven days of the attendance records for the months of November & December 2024 Licensing observed the following; - 1 day that children's time of departure was not recorded. - 7 days that children were not identified as absent. Licensing provided clarification on how to complete the attendance record accurately and the intent of the legislation.

    Corrective action. The Manager will ensure that the attendance record is accurate on a daily basis.

  • STAFFING

    The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

    Observation. Licensing observed that there is no criminal record check (CRC) available for an individual, over the age of 12, who is ordinarily present on the premises of the community care facility.

    Corrective action. The Manager said that they will be applying for the individual's CRC.
