  • OR SUPERVISION

    A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.

    Observation. There are two staff working in the program with total 11 children enrolled. At today's inspection Licensing observed that children were divided into two group to play in Gym and in school age classroom. Children were observed going from one group to another without staff assistance or supervision. There was no communication happening between the staff to track children's whereabouts. School main door is in the middle of gym and classroom. There is a risk of children leaving the premise without staff knowledge.

    Corrective action. The Manager said that they will have systems to keep staff informed/communicated when children are moving in/out of the two groups.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

    Observation. The care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.

    Corrective action. Staff will meet with the parent to review the care plan and create a new care plan after a recent incident.

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

    Observation. Medication was agreed to be given by the facility, however, it is unclear what medication to give to the child at what time.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the name of medication, amount and time when to be given is recorded in the child's care plan.

    Observation. Medication was accessible to children in care on a shelf containing children's toys.

    Observation. Program missed conducting two months fire drills when the program first opened. The LO reviewed this requirement at the time of the inspection.
