    Observation. The lower level of the house is designated, inspected and approved for the operation of child-care. Licensee has been using the upper floor of the house for children during nap time.

    Corrective action. Licensee said that moving forward they will use the nap room space approved at the time of Licensing process.

    A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (b) is clean and comfortable.

    Observation. Two children in care were sleeping in the main play area on a shared blanket placed on the floor. Licensing had a conversation with the Licensee regarding the importance of using the sleep equipment (including sleep mats) that are available, as well as having each child using their own bedding for hygiene purposes.

    Corrective action. Ensure to provide clean, comfortable and appropriate bedding for children in care.

    Observation. Children were provided snacks following floor play without washing their hands prior to eating, and the table was not sanitized prior to snack following coloring activities. Children in care repeatedly left the table to eat in various places around the room including the floor. Licensing had a conversation regarding health and hygiene practices around providing food.

    Corrective action. Ensure to establish healthy practices regarding food service.

    Observation. One child in care was in a room alone for over one hour with the door closed. Throughout the inspection Licensing continually opened the door and checked on this child however the Licensee did not. Licensing had a conversation with the Licensee regarding this practice and the importance of continual supervision.

    Corrective action. Ensure that children are supervised at all times.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

    Observation. The facilities screen use policy indicates a maximum of 30 minutes of screen use per day for children over the age of two. During today's inspection Licensing observed a child in care playing on a phone for over one hour. When Licensing directed the Licensee to attend to this the matter the Licensee was hesitant and stated that she was unsure as to what the child would do. Licensing had a conversation with the Licensee regarding program planning for all children in care.

    Corrective action. Ensure to follow the facility screen use policy at all times.

    Observation. In discussion with the Licensee it was determined that first aid supplies are not available when off site for play or school drop off/pick up.

    A licensee must (b) promote healthy eating and nutritional habits.

    Observation. A child in care was walking around and playing while eating. Licensing explained to the Licensee that this was not a healthy eating habit as it was difficult to supervise the child, there may be a greater risk of choking and the child's hands were dirty from playing on the floor. Even when Licensing explained the concerns to the Licensee the child continued to eat while playing on the floor.

    Corrective action. Ensure to promote healthy eating habits with children.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed three children's files. None of these files were complete. Two files were missing start date, two were missing doctors names and numbers, two were missing care card numbers, one was missing the child's date of birth, one was missing the child's sex, and two were missing photos of the child.
