• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Insufficient supplies in the emergency kit for all children to respond and recover from emergencies.

  Corrective action. Licensee said that emergency supplies are provided by parents. They will request and obtain the missing supplies from the parents.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. The following were observed during today's inspection; - The closet door near naproom need to be secured from preventing potential finger pinching. -Diaper rash cream was left on top of the diaper change table accessible to children

  Corrective action. Diaper rash cream was removed from the table and Manager will inform the Licensee to secure the closet door.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The floor mat inside the entrance of the facility is curling up at one corner and may present as a tripping hazard.

  Corrective action. Please ensure floor mat is in good repair.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Four staff files were reviewed and two are missing immunization status.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have immunization status on file.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

  Observation. 5 children's files were reviewed and 4 are missing photographs.

  Corrective action. Please ensure photos/digital image is available for all children prior to attending.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have immunization status on file prior to employment.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. One staff employed as an Early Childhood Educator Assistant did not have their certificate verified by the ECE Registry.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that any staff that hold a certificate issued by the ECE Registry is verified on line.
