A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. There is weed grown in the outdoor play ground.

Corrective action. Please ensure that facility is clean and in good repair

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Fire Extinguisher has not been serviced annually

Corrective action. Licensee said that she will buy a new fire extinguisher.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. The following were observed during today's inspection: All closets in the basement suite need to be secured from finger pinching; Camera cable was hanging loosely in small play room.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Review of 3 children files observed one child was missing doctor's name and phone number on file.

Corrective action. Ensure all children files are complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Review of 3 children files observed 2 children were missing medical insurance plan number on file.

Corrective action. Ensure all children files are complete.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. There are cleaning supplies stored in the lower cabinets in the washroom. These items were accessible to the children in care.

Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

Corrective action. Ensure all staff are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Validation was not been obtained for one Early Childhood Educator who works at the facility.

Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. Licensing reviewed three children's files. None of these children had a photograph or digital image available.

Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing reviewed three children's files. One did not include the child's date of enrollment in the facility.

Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

Observation. The facility has not practiced a fire drill since the facility opened. Education was provided on fire and emergency drills and a sample drill document was provided.

Corrective action. Ensure that fire drills are practiced and recorded monthly.
