A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. One cloth towel in the washroom for children to share for drying hands after washing.
Corrective action. Licensee will have paper towel for hand washing procedure.

A licensee must (a) ensure that a community care facility has (i) emergency exits that meet the requirements of the BC Building Code, and (ii) a fire drill system that is approved as definedby section 31 of the Fire Services Act.
Observation. Fire extinguisher recertification is required as it expired in May 2025.
Corrective action. Licensee will take it for inspection.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed that there are two wooden chairs, in the covered outdoor play area, with cushions on them that have dirt and many stains. Licensing provided education on the importance of ensuring that all furniture is cleaned and sanitized. The Manager informed Licensing that they will remove the cushions and chairs.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the furniture, equipment and fixtures within the care facility are clean and in good repair while children are in care.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Licensing observed that there is a child who has a care plan in place. However, there was no evidence that the care plan had been reviewed at least once a year. The Manager informed Licensing that they had spoken to the parent about the care plan in January. Licensing provided education on what would meet the intent of this regulation.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a care plan is reviewed at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation. Licensing observed that there is no minor log book available to review. The Manager informed Licensing that the old log book was full and has not been replaced yet.
Corrective action. Please ensure that current records are kept of the following; a log of minor incidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation. Upon a review of the fire drills for the year 2020 Licensing observed that a fire drill was not practiced for the month of June.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a fire drill system is practiced at least once each month.
