Licensing has been notified immediately of any change in the information provided under Section 9 (Applying for a License). [CCLR Sec. 10(1)]

Observation. Licensing observed that one washroom contained a table positioned in the middle of the space. Staff reported that the table is being used as a diaper changing surface for another program operating next door. Licensing reminded staff that the current facility is licensed for a capacity of 20 children; therefore, in accordance with the Child Care Licensing Regulation, the licensed space must contain two toilets and two wash basins to meet the required ratio for this capacity. How the washroom is currently set up, does not meet this legislative requirement.

There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

Observation. Licensing observed the facility does not have an emergency plan that sets our procedures to prepare for, mitigate, response to and recover from any emergency.

For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

Observation. Staff reported that three children have a dedicated support person assigned to them while in care. Review of the children’s files found no individualized care plans on record for these children.

The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

Observation. Licensing reviewed children's records: - Three children did not have medical insurance plan number - One child did not have emergency contact information - One child’s information indicates that they are prescribed a medication. When speaking with staff, they reported that they are not aware of any medication for this child.

Prior to employing staff the manager has met with each person and has obtained the appropriate documentation. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)]

Observation. Licensing reviewed all staff records: - 1 staff did not have a valid documentation to support their certificate was verified using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry. - 1 volunteer did not have criminal record check and character references
