  Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

  Observation. There is one child with an Care Plan and information in their file stating they have allergies and require an Epi-Pen. Staff stated the Epi-pen is kept in the emergency backpack, they also stated that there is no care plan. LO was unable to find the Epi-pen in the backpack. Manager stated that the Epi-pen is no longer required. There is conflicting information regarding this child and their medical condition. Due to the information on file, the child continues to require a Epi-pen that is not on site.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Discussion with the manager regarding some area that required addressing - handprints on the walls, mop appears to be drying on the bathroom half door, loose fixture in the bathroom. It was suggested that there is a written log of maintenance and repairs that staff observer throughout the facility.

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. In the pathway to the outdoor space, is a storage shelf that is over four feet but not secure to the wall. Manager stated that it is being moved today and a new item is replacing it.

  Observation. There is one child with a care plan that has not been reviewed at least once a year.

  Observation. LO reviewed emergency cards in the room and audited children's files in the Managers office. It was observed that children are missing emergency contact that is in addition to parent and Doctor / Medical practitioners information. Asked manager what is the process in place for children's files / emergency cards to be reviewed and updated if information is missing.

  All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

  Observation. The equipment on site (indoor and out) is in good repair, but, it was observed that there is areas where the equipment is limited, not age / developmentally appropriate, complete or sufficient numbers for the children in care.

  Observation. Children's files are available, with a few children missing the following information - Doctor or medical clinic information, medical information, emergency contact information (in addition to parent).

  Observation. Licensing observed a sandbox with a low level of sand and the grassy area was muddy and bare accessible to the children in care and not providing sufficient depth of protecting surfacing.
