    Furniture or equipment for sleeping is used by only one child at a time, is clean and comfortable, and is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. [CCLR Sec. 15(2)]

    Observation. Nap cots are stored in the closet of the nap room. This space is also used as a small activity room for the rest of the day. It was observed that the cots were stored in a stacked manner (as designed), but as the parents bring their own sheets for the cots (which are not designed for with holes for the cots feet), when they are stacked the feet of the bed will touch the sheet on the cot below.

    Observation. Due to process of staff files being kept at head office, LO was unable to review files. LO was informed that a link to staff files could be sent. None was received by time of this report being completed.

    Children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult. [CCLR Sec. 39(1)]

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the log of minor accidents. An entry stated a child's leg was caught in between the crib bars after waking up from a nap. The staff heard the child cry through the baby monitor. Upon going into the nap room, the staff saw that the child had bruising on his leg. A staff stated during nap time, babies are supervised every 30 minutes. Discussion with staff and managers took place to supervise children at all times.

    Instructions in a child's record or care plan respecting food and drink for the child are followed. [CCLR Sec.48(2)]

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the log of minor accidents. One entry stated a practicum student gave food to a child with severe allergies. Discussion took place with the Manager for everyone to be aware of children's allergies.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed that the cubbie area gate was missing and the hinges were protruding at children's eye level posing a hazard. Licensing observed a changing mat in the wash room with apparent stains, and dirt on the outer edges and within the seam LO observed the disposable diaper container in the washroom was overflowing.

    Observation. Licensing Officer observed a crumpled tarp in the middle of the sand box. LO observed dust, leaves, garbage and debris on the left corner beside the climber, on the perimeter of the play area.
