    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. In the outdoor play space, Licensing Officer observed visible mildew and dirt buildup on the storage shed, which is accessible to children. Discussion took place with Manager with regards to this poses a health and safety hazard to children in care.

    Observation. Licensing Officer observed that a record for 1 child was unavailable for review. In addition, Licensing Officer observed the following: -a photograph or digital image of the child is not kept for 3 children -immunization status is not kept for 4 children

    Maintenance of Equipment: A log is kept of all inspections, maintenance and repairs. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

    Observation. Licensing Officer observed that a Daily Maintenance of Equipment Log was posted in the facility however the log appeared not to be implemented by staff, as all entries were blank. A discussion took place with the Manager regarding the expectation that the log be used daily to document equipment checks, and the importance of accurate, consistent documentation to verify that safety and maintenance practices are being carried out.

    Observation. LO observed that an early childhood educator certificate for 1 staff is not prominently displayed in the facility.

    Observation. LO observed prescription medication for a child to be administered did not have a Request for Administration of Medication form completed.

    Observation. In the outdoor play space, LO observed that the sand box lid appears to be cracked and duct tape has been used to cover one of the cracked areas.

    Observation. LO observed a child's record which indicates a diagnosis for a life threatening allergy however the care plan on file was not current.
