    Observation. LO observed that hot water in the washroom is heated to 52° C.

LO reviewed documentation for 2 staff on site and was not able to observe the following: • Record of work history on file for 2 staff • Evidence of Responsible Adult training on file for 2 staff • References on file for 2 staff • Immunization status on file for 1 staff • Criminal record check issued to the facility for 1 staff

    Employees and parents are provided a written statement of the licensee's policy on behavioural guidance. [CCLR Sec.51(1)(b)]

    Observation. While this staff is only alone due to an emergency, she still works with Licensee other days and and is alone today. Licensee stated that other staff have been trained in the policies, but this emergency staff has not. Any staff (including emergency staff) must receive a copy of the policy on behavioural guidance. And it is good practice to have them read all your policies.

  • PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Furniture, Equipment and FixturesNon-critical

    Furniture or equipment for sleeping is used by only one child at a time, is clean and comfortable, and is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. [CCLR Sec. 15(2)]

    Observation. Children were sleeping when LO arrived, and it was observed that they were sleeping on individual mats. But, during the course of the visit, children had rolled or moved in their sleep and appeared to have rolled to different mats that may be used by children were were not attending this day.

    Prior to employing staff the manager has met with each person and has obtained the appropriate documentation. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)]

    Observation. Licensee was not on site (due to medical appointment) and staff person was not aware of where staff files are kept, and therefore they could not be reviewed. While the staff stated that they had completed a CRC prior to working with children, they could not explain any training they have completed, and no file was able to be review. Licensee contacted LO and shared staff list, while the staff appear to have First Aid and Training, their CRC's are not through CRC in Victoria.

  • STAFFING / Emergency Training and EquipmentNon-critical

    Staff are trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and the emergency plan, including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(a)]

    Observation. There is a form by the main entrance that says "Fire Drills" with some checks on January through April, but no written information or date and nothing past April is marked. Staff was not able to tell LO about fire drills.
