  Observation. Licensing Officer observed the fire extinguisher has been serviced. During today's visit, Licensing Officer observed the emergency supplies such as food and water rations do not appear to be adequate for the number of children in care in the event of an emergency

  All persons over the age of 12 that are ordinarily present on the premises while children are present are of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for each person. [CCLR Sec 20]

  Observation. This issue of non-compliance remains outstanding. During today's visit, Licensing Officer observed a Criminal Record Check has not been obtained for the manager's spouse. Manager stated that the Criminal Record Check is in process.

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed an immunization status has been obtained for the Manager. During today's visit, Licensing Officer observed character references have not been obtained for 1 staff.

  Observation. Upon arrival to the facility, Licensing Officer observed 6 children in care with 1 staff which exceeds the permitted group size as per Schedule E.

  There is an established program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. [CCLR Sec. 46(1)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed that prior to the children sitting down for snack the staff did not instruct the children to wash their hands. It appears that the facility does not have an established program to practice the rules of, health and hygiene with children.

• PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Hazardous Objects and SubstancesNon-critical

  Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

  Observation. In the nap room, Licensing Officer observed multiple stacked storage containers which contain toys and materials for the program. The placement of the storage containers was observed to be next to a nap mat which poses a risk of harm if a container(s) were to fall on a child.

  All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

  Observation. In the outdoor play space, Licensing Officer observed at the base of the climbing equipment with the slide there is a foam mat under the step ladder and one underneath the slide. The two foam mats appear to be in poor repair. The corners of the mats are curling and the edges are torn and ripped. Licensing recommends the use of thicker foam mats underneath and around the climbing equipment for children.

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed that an immunization status is not kept for 1 child.

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed the criminal record check on file for the manager's spouse has expired.

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed that an immunization status has not been obtained for the manager.

  The emergency plan is not practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(c)] ; Fire drills are not practiced at least once each month. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed that a fire drill was only practiced for the month of January and no emergency drill has been practiced for this year.

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. The gate leading between the outdoor space and the front of the home facility is showing signs of rot and the latch is not working.

  A record for each child containing the daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure is not kept.   Observation. While one child was not originally signed in, staff corrected that while LO was on site. And 4 children's files are missing immunization status.

  The licensee keeps current records of each employee as required under Sec. 19(1). [CCLR Sec.56(b)]

  Observation. The three staff that work full time on site have complete files, but there is one support worker who is regularly on site with no information provided.
