Observation. This issue of non-compliance remains outstanding. During today's visit, Licensing Officer observed a Criminal Record Check has not been obtained for the manager's spouse. Manager stated that the Criminal Record Check is in process.

Observation. Upon arrival to the facility, Licensing Officer observed 6 children in care with 1 staff which exceeds the permitted group size as per Schedule E.

There is an established program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. [CCLR Sec. 46(1)]
Observation. Licensing Officer observed that prior to the children sitting down for snack the staff did not instruct the children to wash their hands. It appears that the facility does not have an established program to practice the rules of, health and hygiene with children.

Observation. In the nap room, Licensing Officer observed multiple stacked storage containers which contain toys and materials for the program. The placement of the storage containers was observed to be next to a nap mat which poses a risk of harm if a container(s) were to fall on a child.

All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]
Observation. In the outdoor play space, Licensing Officer observed at the base of the climbing equipment with the slide there is a foam mat under the step ladder and one underneath the slide. The two foam mats appear to be in poor repair. The corners of the mats are curling and the edges are torn and ripped. Licensing recommends the use of thicker foam mats underneath and around the climbing equipment for children.
