Staff stated no medication is provided for the child. The care plan indicates, medication needs to be with the child at all times.

Observation. Licensing observed a child who had fallen a sleep on the table while eating lunch. The child was moved to another table while the staff was cleaning the table. An educator explained that the children were not heading to the nap room for another 20 minutes. Licensing directed the educator to care for the sleeping child and take the child to the nap room to be able to sleep on a cot.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: There are diaper changing mats, which are cracked and presenting a risk of possible cross contamination and the spread of germs. Staff are stacking and storing toys in plastic bags along with their personal belongings inside the nap room and baby monitors are used for the nap rooms when children are all sleeping and staff are in the main space. Licensing is concerned the children may try to access the items being stored in the nap room after waking up from their sleep when been monitored by a baby monitor which presents a possible risk of injury or suffocation from the plastic bags.

The items available to the children did not present as a clear sequence or group of categories that were intended to be together.

Observation. Licensing observed 2 children who were tired and were falling asleep, but it was outdoor time for the group. Staff explained to Licensing that it was okay for the children they may only sleep for 10 min or sleep in the stroller. Licensing also observed a circle time that was too long for the age group that it was being presented to. Children who were no longer interested in circle time were trying to access toys that had been put away or cleaned up prior to the circle time activity.

Observation. Ground surfacing has eroded where there is currently fibar/bark nuggets and landscaping material is exposed. Manager discussed with licensing how this space will be changed to a rubberized material when the weather permits, but in the meantime they will be continuing to use fibar/bark nuggets for ground cover. Manager is to let licensing know when more ground cover has been added to the outdoor space.

Observation. Change mats observed to be ripped at the seams. To avoid cross contamination they need to be replaced. Observed the pillows with broken zipper. Children have access to the plungers and toilet brushes in the bathrooms. Cots are stacked with children's bedding touching, which can spread illnesses.

Observation. It was observed both indoors and outdoors there was limited to no materials in areas or the program. In some classrooms there were a variety of activities and materials made available to Child Care Licensing Regulations Section 44 and Schedule G and in other classrooms there was minimal to no items on the shelves, in the cupboards or the kitchen centers, not meeting the groups capacity needs. The outside spaces are for the capacity of 32 and 27. It was observed that the outdoor spaces did not have enough toys and materials for the capacity of the children accessing the 32 space side and the toys and materials were not appropriate for the age and development of children in the group of care accessing the space at the time of the inspection. There were a few items, but not enough to encourage a comprehensive and coordinated program for a minimum of an hour. Licensing is recommending research is to be conducted to find out what is appropriate toys and equipment for this age range and ensure there is enough toys and equipment for the capacity of the children in care for the space.
