Observation. LO reviewed two sets of attendance records and observed there were inconsistent number of children present between both documents. LO observed 1 emergency card did not indicate the child's allergy information and medication the child is currently taking.

Children are provided with a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that is designed for the development and care of the children, and is appropriate for the age and development of the children. [CCLR Sec. 44(1)(a)(b)(c) and Schedule(G)]
Observation. Licensing observed the playground to have limited materials and equipment for the capacity of children using the space to be able to offer a comprehensive and coordinated program outside. Licensing spoke with the manager regarding the developmental age of the children in the playground at the time of the inspection (children who will be going to kindergarten in September) and how the outdoor space was not meeting their needs. We discussed how staff are able to bring items from inside to the outside and returning them to the inside. We also discussed how important it is to purchase quality toys that can withstand the use of a centre this size, learning to take care of the toys and material they have. Once the yard is adapted to the programs needs, there is a routine of play and clean-up for staff and children to follow.

Observation. Licensing observed a child has a care plan which includes both Benadryl and an Epi-pen. Licensing provided a letter from the Medical Health Officer explaining the risks of both Benadryl and Epi-pen. Licensing spoke to the Manager regarding the Medical Health Officers position. Licensing to send the Manager the information to be provided to the parent.

Observation. It was explained to Licensing a staff member sets up the outdoor space in the morning. When Licensing arrived there were limited materials and equipment available to the children, capacity of 25. Licensing spoke to the staff. In the storage were a limited number of items, which were brought out. Tables frames where containers were required in order for children to be able to access, were found. With the additional set-up some of the children began to engage in a variety of independent activities, rather than teacher focused.

Observation. Licensing observed the information was out of date and the required prescription had expired. Based on the information on the care plan, the child is not to be in attendance without the child's current prescription.

A record for each child containing the name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(a)]
Observation. Licensing observed children's emergency cards were not up to date, missing medical insurance information. Even though the enrolment of children met legislation requirements, Licensing, the Manager and the Assistant Director discussed the enrollment during rest time and how important it is to have a plan as to which child is in which classroom and it is documented. We discussed how the non-nappers could be away from the facility at this time and the staff in the program would not have the availability to confirm the enrollment in case of an emergency.
