    Observation. Licensing observed the sanitizing solution was not being changed on a regular basis It was also recommended that the Licensee have a set of cleaning and sanitizing solution in both the bathroom and the kitchen, to avoid cross contamination.

    The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - The Licensee has done a lot of work to the outside space in order to remove landscaping ground cover, which created a safety concern. A discussion was held with the licensee around providing ground cover surface supportive of the age and developmental care enrolled in the program. - There is a large concrete circle in the yard, which is concerning as it presents a risk of a tripping and cause an injury. - The toys and equipment are stained, dirty and showing there ware.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the licensee/educator has a log book, but it has not be written in since 2023

    Observation. Licensing observed the fire drills have been conducted on a monthly basis, but the emergency plan has not been practiced at lease once in the year.

    Observation. There were no available single use towels to dry hands in either washroom.

    Observation. The sand box was not covered. The mop and mop bucket ( liquid in bucket) were being stored in the bathtub in one washroom, accessible to children. These mops were dirty. There is an electrical outlet in the nap room that is missing it's cover. There did not appear to be a covered waste bin in either bathroom.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. There was considerable debris and dirt throughout the facility, particularly the kitchen and bathrooms. The walls, door frames, areas near door handles had visible dirt and grime build up. There are areas of the walls that are chipped and have small holes making it very difficult to adequately wipe clean. The area around the kitchen sink had visible dirt and build up. This area did not appear to be clean nor sanitized. The fridge had dirt and grime build up on the outside and was very dirty on the inside.

    Furniture or equipment for sleeping is used by only one child at a time, is clean and comfortable, and is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. [CCLR Sec. 15(2)]

    Observation. Several of the sleeping mats had tears and holes making it difficult to adequately clean and sanitize.

    Observation. Licensing observed a slide that had been leaning not secured in the window of the playhouse for the children to slide on. Licensee removed it during the inspection. Licensing observed areas where the ground under the fence had eroded more than 4" space due to the house being built beside the child care facility. Licensing also observed that there is clover growing in the backyard, and there are large rocks, boulders, and large tree branches that are partially covered in the clover. There is a concern when children are running and playing that they may not be aware of the large rocks and tree branches, trip and hurt themselves.
