    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment]. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The fire drill was not recorded for Dec 2024. The staff said that this was completed, but was not recorded.

    Corrective action. Ensure that fire drills are practiced and recorded monthly.

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

    Observation. Photos were not obtained for some emergency cards. Licensing discussed the importance of having photographs on emergency cards, which are taken off-site in the first aid bag.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that children's files are complete.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.

    Observation. During a check of the first aid bag, it was found that it was lacking emergency supplies, such as band-aids. The Manager explained that there is a box of band-aids strored in the facility and the first aid bag will be re-stocked.

    Corrective action. Please ensure first aid kits are readily accessible to all employees with adequate supplies.

  • LICENSING

    A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

    Observation. During a walk through of the facility, it was found that the Manager's name was not posted. The Manager explained that there is a lead staff that works in the program and parents are aware of who to contact. Licensing explained that the posting of the Manager's name is a requirement in the legislation.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the Manager's name is posted in a prominent place.
