• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

  Observation. A staff's ECEA certificate was not displayed in a prominent place. Licensing explained that any regular staff working at the daycare must have their certificates posted in a prominent place.

  Corrective action. The Manager will post the staff's certificate in a prominent place.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. The fire drill records from Apr 2024 to Feb 2025 was not available for review. The Manager said that the drills were completed but she could not produce the records.

  Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. All four children were not signed in today. Licensing explained that sign in/sign out must be completed as it happens during the day.

  Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. The Manager has not obtained a CRC for 1 staff. The staff has a CRC available for her previous workplace, but not for this facility. The Manager explained that she has tried to use the sharing program through the CRRP but had multiple issues with the system. Licensing explained that the CRC must be obtained prior to the staff starting work.

  Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The material covering the gaps in the deck railing is not secured. The Manager said that staff usually try and tape it back on the railing when they are able. Licensing had a discussion with the Manager about other materials she could use to cover the gaps in the railing.

  Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. The Manager's name was not posted in a prominent place.

  Corrective action. The Manager will post her name in a prominent place.

  10050 - CCLR s.11(1)
• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. One staff's ECEA certificate was not validated by the system maintained by the registry. This is a repeat contravention from Routine Inspection #SVAA-CRPUHY.

  Corrective action. The Manager will validate the staff's ECEA certificate and print out the results to be kept in the staff's file.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. The fire drill was not recorded for April 2023.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that fire drills are practiced and recorded monthly.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Two staff's ECEA certificates were not validate by the system maintained by the Registry.

  Corrective action. Please ensure ECE/A certificates are validated by the system maintained by the Registry and a copy is kept in the staff's file.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. A site specific CRC was not obtained for one staff. The Manager said that she will use the sharing program to obtain a site specific CRC.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a site specific CRC has been obtained for all staff.

  Observation. During a review of the fire drill records, it was found that January, February and March 2022 were not recorded. The Manager explained that they were practiced those three months but were not recorded.

  Corrective action. Please ensure fire drill records are practiced and recorded monthly.
