    Observation. There have been up to 5 children under the age of 3 in attendance. As per schedule E of the child care licensing regulation, there can be 3 children under the age of 3 at one time for the multi-age service type.

    Corrective action. The Manager will provide a compliance plan.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The attendance record was not completed for yesterday or today.

    Corrective action. The manager signed in the children during the inspection.

    Corrective action. The Manager advised that the individual will apply for a CRC.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Fridge temperature not maintained between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius. Licensing observed that the fridge temperature was at 8 degrees Celsius.

    Corrective action. The licensee said she will make sure the fridge temperature is lowered and under 4 degrees Celsius.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the emergency evacuation plan is not practiced annually.

    Corrective action. The licensee said she remembers do it last year around April/May, and will make sure she practices it soon with the children.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. During inspection Licensing observed: -Children’s bathroom baseboard heater cover was covered in rust -Walls at children's eye level in the indoor play area, kitchen and bathroom had visible old dried stains that needed to be cleaned. Dust and dirt accumulation on the floor mouldings was also observed. -Sleep mats cannot be effectively sanitized because the outer edges of nap mats are starting to show signs of wear and tear, exposing the foam. -Mesh sliding screen door leading to the deck area fell down upon LO slight touch. Manager is aware of this and is planning to get it repaired or replaced. Licensing is concerned that a child may fall if they lean against this screen door.

    Corrective action. A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. 1 staff's certificate has not been validated. The Manager was not aware that ECE assistant certificates need to be validated. Licensing provided education that ECE & ECEA certificates needs to be validated through the Early Childhood Educator Registry.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff records are complete.

This is a repeat contravention. - Medicated diaper cream was stored in an unlocked drawer by the change table. This is a repeat contravention. - Lysol disinfectant, adult nasal spray and rubbing alcohol were stored close to the edge of the kitchen counter. - Cleaning solution in a spray bottle was located on the kitchen floor. - Insect repellant was located on a low shelf in the kitchen area. All items were moved out of reach of children while Licensing was on site.

    Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health or safety.
