• MEDICATION

  If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

  Observation. One child's medication was not readily accessible to staff during outdoor play.

  Corrective action. Licensee contact said that she will remind all staff to always bring medication with them during outdoor play.

• OR SUPERVISION

  A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection, Licensing observed that children were briefly left unsupervised when a staff member went down a long hallway to unlock the door for another staff member to come inside. Licensing expressed concern, as the entrance door is near the children’s play area and was frequently being used by individuals entering and exiting the school building. Licensing discussed active supervision strategies to ensure children are supervised at all times.

  Corrective action. Licensee contact said that active supervision strategies will be reviewed with all staff to ensure children are supervised at all times.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon review of three staff files; one staff file was missing evidence of staff training. Staff showed Licensing their ECEA certificate on their phone, noting it had been previously provided to the manager

  Corrective action. Licensee contact said ECEA certificate will be kept in staff file.
