    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The fridge temperature was 8 degrees Celsius.

    Corrective action. The Manager lowered the fridge temperature and will verify to ensure it is between 0 to 4 degrees Celsius.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

    Observation. 3 staff files were reviewed and one staff was missing record of 2 character references.

    Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain 2 character references for this individual.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

    Observation. 2 staff were missing record of their immunization status.

    Corrective action. The Manager said that she will obtain their immunization statuses.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 2 staff were missing record of certificate verification.

    Corrective action. The Manager verified both certificates during the inspection and advised that she will maintain record of verification.

    Observation. Fire drills have not been practiced since the facility has been opened.

    Corrective action. The Manager said she will practice the fire drills monthly.
