Observation. LO noted a child that had an anaphylactic allergy noted on the registration form had no epi-pen on site and no care plan was implemented. LO asked the manager to call the parent and request that either an epi-pen is provided immediately or the child must be pick up.

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. LO noted in the storage room for children's beddings upstairs the wall's paint was peeling and debris was on the floor.

Observation. LO noted a broken plastic play equipment attached to the fence was accessible to children. Staff had completed the daily check list for the playground ,however everything was marked in good condition. The storage unit for equipment was poorly organized and no access was possible to the shelves that contain activities for children to use when outdoor. Helmets to be used by children where stored in a box with other toys and was no process for sanitizing the helmets in between each use. The ground surface had a lot of debris.

Observation. LO noted a child that was listed with an anaphylactic reaction had no care plan in place.

Observation. LO noted one staff did not had a valid CRC obtain from the Ministry of Justice. On file was a clearance letter from local RCMP. A sample of staff records were reviewed and found in compliance except the record noted above.

Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]
Observation. The fire drills were up to date and records noted. The emergency plan was not practiced as was requested and noted in the last routine inspection report. This had been noted on the last routine inspection in 2024:"The emergency plan must be practiced by the end of the year of 2024 and a record maintained. Licensing suggested to new manager to get familiar with the facility procedures and practice additional emergency drills to ensure everyone is aware of the procedure". The manager was not aware of the procedure. LO recommended the manager to review the facilities policies and procedures for emergency plan.

Observation. Licensing noted the following: - children beddings were not stored appropriately,were touching and allow for cross contamination. In the past the facility had a system that was not implemented by the staff at the time of this inspection - in the program upstairs in the one of the bathrooms a hole was noted on the tile wall by the sink and covered with tape - a window restrictor was damaged - on the playground part of the chain link fence had some sharp edges towards the inside that could cause injury.Location: bottom of the fence/close to the gate.
