- A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as School Age Care on School Grounds, must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. The hot water temperature measured today at 54.8 degrees Celsius. This represent an immediate risk to the health and safety of the children in care and must be corrected immediately. The Licensee indicated that they will be installing a temperature control device under the sink and indicated in the meantime they will provide direct supervision of children washing their hands while using the bathroom and will use the outdoor hose for handwashing other times. Full compliance will not be achieved until the plan has been implemented and completed.
Corrective action. Ensure that any heated water accessible to children in care is heated to no more than 49 degrees Celsius. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
3000 - CCLR 47 - A Licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation. The first aid kit was situated inside the house, not readily accessible as the children were playing in the outdoor play area. Licensee corrected this during the inspection by bringing the first aid kit outside.
Corrective action. Ensure first aid kits are readily accessible. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
3020 - CCLR 23(2) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information:(i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency
Observation. There were no physical copies of the children's photos available in the event of an emergency. The Licensee takes the children on outings to local parks and beaches. The Licensee corrected this during the inspection by putting photos of the children in the field trip bag.
Corrective action. Ensure a photo/digital image is available to readily identify a child in the event of an emergency. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
