- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Personal equipment at the hallway near the bathroom, and cluttered/housed unused items inside the facility particularly near the entrance (This is a repeat contravention identified on inspection report #CGEE-BYR424 - March 02, 2021). - A long yellow cold / wire was found outdoors near the ground at the play area which was accessible to children - There is a large square hole on the wall inside the facility near the entrance. Wood slats have been placed by the facility manager recently in an attempt to cover the hole, though it was observed today during the inspection that a child was leaning on it causing the wood slats to shift.
Corrective action. - Items in the daycare must be for daycare use only - Ensure that the facility is safe, clean and in good repair at all times

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. Licensing observed that one child was missing the enrollment date on file. This is a repeat contravention identified on inspection report #ONIR-CCCQEL - March 09, 2022.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files and information are complete and available on-site.

Observation. Licensing observed that for the month of July 2024 ( and including today), the children's attendance records were not available on-site. The facility manager also communicated this matter to Licensing during the inspection. This is a repeat contravention identified on inspection report #CGEE-BYR424 - March 02, 2021.
Corrective action. Ensure that the daily attendance record is taken accurately for each child, and available on-site indicating if children are absent or present with the time of arrival and departure.
19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation. Licensing observed that there are no available records / log of minor incidents on-site. During the inspection, the facility manager attempted to find it on-site, though it could not be found.
Corrective action. Ensure that minor incidents are documented in the incident log bound book, and take note of any illness and unexpected events involving children not requiring medical attention, and that are not reportable incidents as described in Schedule H, and staff to initial and write the full date after each documentation.

- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. During the inspection the licensing officer observed that the children were directed to sit down and have snack. Licensing did not observe the children or the manager washing hands before eating/serving snack. Manager stated that the children and herself usually wash their hands.
Corrective action. Please ensure the children practice the rules of health and hygiene.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. During the inspection a total of 5 children's files were reviewed. One child was missing an enrollment date. This is a repeat contravention from 2020.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete.

Observation. 2 toilet plungers & a toilet brush were on the floor adjacent to the toilet.
Corrective action. Unsanitary objects must be inaccessible to children.

Observation. The cubby area was cluttered & housed various unused items unrelated to the daycare.
Corrective action. Items in the daycare must be for daycare use only.

Observation. All registered children's names were documented on the attendance; however, yesterday's departure times & today's arrival & departure times weren't captured.
Corrective action. Accurate attendance records are required for: - FHA, to determine the ages of children & hours of attendance, in order to determine compliance w/ the Licence - emergency workers, in the event of an emergency, to ensure that all children are accounted for

Corrective action. Children must be supervised when going to the washroom. The licensee cleaned & disinfected the potty bowl.
