A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The ECE certificate of one of the staff working today was not posted and displayed on-site.

Corrective action. Ensure that the staff certificate is posted prior to their first day of work.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Two children's files did not have an emergency contact listed.

Corrective action. Ensure that children's files are complete prior to their first day in care.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The certificate validation for one of the staff working today was not on file.

Corrective action. Ensure that staff files are complete prior to their start of employment at the facility.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. Licensing observed that the manager's name was not displayed in a prominent place at the facility.

Corrective action. Ensure that the manager's name is displayed.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Licensing observed that for the month of May 2024, the fire drill log was missing. When asked, staff were not sure if the fire drill was completed with the children that month.

Corrective action. Ensure that fire drills are recorded and completed monthly.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing observed that two children did not have their start date written on file.

Corrective action. Ensure that the children's files are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. Licensing observed that the manager's character references were not on file.

Corrective action. Three character references for best practice required, and to be available on-site.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status record was not obtained for the manager. There was a blank immunization form from Fraser Health on file.

Corrective action. Ensure that this document is available on-site.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Licensing observed that the the manager's CRC record was not available on-site.

Corrective action. Ensure that the file is complete and documents are available on-site.
