A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. One child (care ended last month) did not have the medical health number on file.

Corrective action. Ensure children's files are complete prior to starting care.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One child did not have the start date on file. This item is a repeat contravention on routine inspection report #MZIN-DBPPBV on 06/Dec/2024.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Upon observation and talking to the facility manager, it was identified that absent children are not being recorded.

Corrective action. Moving forward, ensure that absent children are recorded daily.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. One child did not have an emergency contact on file, and another child (care ended last month) did not have a doctor / clinic name and phone number on file.

Corrective action. Ensure that children's files are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. One staff's CRC record was from a college (dated until 2029).

Corrective action. Ensure that the staff's CRC record is site specific. The facility manager said during the inspection that a request has been placed. This item is a repeat contravention on routine inspection #MZIN-DBPPBV on 06/Dec/2024.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed that the children's blankets were stored on a pile in the closet.

Corrective action. Ensure that children's beddings are completely separated from each other when stored.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Licensing observed that the emergency supplies did not have water or food items.

Corrective action. Ensure that these items are included in case of an emergency.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One child's file was observed to be missing the date of enrolment.

Corrective action. Ensure that files are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that the manager did not have a CRC on file at the facility.

Corrective action. Ensure that the file is complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. One staff was observed to have no references on file.

Corrective action. Ensure that the file is complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Licensing observed that the manager did not have the certificate validation on file at the facility.

Corrective action. Ensure that the file is complete.
