  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Upon observation and talking to staff and the manager, it was identified that absent children are not recorded daily. This item is a repeat contravention on routine inspection report #MZIN-D5AN9T on 15-May-2024 & #CGEE-CDGRQN on 14-Apr-2022.

  Corrective action. Ensure that there is a system in place for recording absent children daily.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. Licensing observed that five children's medical practitioner contact / clinic name and contact phone number was missing/incomplete. This item was noted on inspection report # CGEE-CDGRQN - 14/Apr/2022.

  Corrective action. Ensure children's information on file is complete.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that 15 children's time of arrival were noted on the attendance sheet, though there were a total of 16 children during that time. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed one staff's certificate was not validated via the ECE registry. This is a repeat contravention on inspection report # CGEE-CQUPTD - 13/Apr/2023

  Corrective action. Certificates to be verified upon hire and every renewal

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Licensing observed that one staff's CRC was not site specific and was from a college. This item (12040 - CCRL) was noted on inspection report #CGEE-CDGRQN - 14/Apr/2022

  Corrective action. Ensure the staff's CRC is site specific.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Repeat violation from FIRs #CGEE: - AZHTC6 (07/Jun/2018) - BDFTAE (24/Jun/2019) - BNGSBU (07/Apr/2020) - CDGRQN (14/Apr/2022) CCFL reviewed 15 children's files & found that 1 child's start date only listed the month & year.

  Corrective action. Certificates must be verified upon hire & every renewal.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. The manager explained that the facility practiced implementing the emergency plan recently; however, there's no record of it.

  Corrective action. The manager stated that she'd speak w/ employees to determine when it occurred.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. *Repeat violation from FIR #CGEE-ANQTG8 (27/Jun/2017)* The fire extinguishers' annual service date was by 15/Jan/2022.

  Corrective action. Please obtain servicing for the fire extinguishers.

  Corrective action. All requirements under CCLR s.57(2) must be obtained by children's 1st day of care.

  Observation. 2 employees' CRCs expired. The manager explained that she recently applied for this employee's CRC share.

  Corrective action. All requirements under CCLR s.19 must be obtained by employee's 1st day of employment. In the meantime, these employees can't work alone w/ children or assist w/ toileting/diapering.

  Observation. *Repeat violation from FIR #CGEE-ANQTG8 (27/Jun/2017), FIR #CGEE-AZHTC6 (07/Jun/2018), FIR #CGEE-BDFTAE (24/Jun/2019), & FIR #CGEE-BNGSBU (07/Apr/2020)* An employee's CRC is addressed to another organization. The manager explained that she recently applied for this employee's CRC share.

  Corrective action. All requirements under CCLR s.19 must be obtained by employee's 1st day of employment. In the meantime, this employee can't work alone w/ children or assist w/ toileting/diapering.

  Observation. *REPEAT VIOLATION FROM FIR #CGEE-BDFTAE (24/JUN/2019)* FHA reviewed 10 children's files & found that 2 files lacked enrolment dates (1 was blank & the other indicated month & year only).

  Corrective action. All requirements of s. 57 (Records for each child) are required by children's 1st day of care.

  Observation. 3 employees' certificates haven't been validated upon renewal.

  Observation. *REPEAT VIOLATION FROM FIR #CGEE-BDFTAE (24/JUN/2019)* An employee's CRC was applied for by a previous organization.

  Corrective action. The licensee must apply to share the results of employees' previous CRCs w/ her (gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/crime-prevention/criminal-record-check/sharing-results).
