- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Along and by the staircase, the following was accessible: bottle of carpet cleaner and windex and bottle of allergy medication. Upon notifying the Licensee, all items were stored elswhere that is inaccessible to children.
Corrective action. The Licensee will ensure hazardous objects or substances are not accessible to children.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Absences are not recorded. As per the Licensee, absences will be recorded on the attendance sheets moving forward. The Licensee will fill in the previous sheets with accurate attendance information.
Corrective action. Please ensure absences are recorded daily.

Corrective action. Please ensure hazardous objects or substances are inaccessible to children.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.
Observation. Upon reviewing children's files, 1 child is listed to have an allergy, but theere is no written information of any follow-up action in case the child ingests the allergen. As per the Licensee, the allergy is non-life threatening and does not require medication. Licensing and the Licensee discussed following up with the parent to obtain written instructions regarding the allergy.
Corrective action. Please ensure written instructions are obtained from the child's parent pertaining to follow-up action and the allergy.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. During the routine inspection the licensee could not produce the records regarding fire drill and emergency evacuation practices. The records for 2019 were available, however, records for 2022 were not available. The manager said that she practices fire drills monthly and emergency evacuations yearly.
Corrective action. Please ensure a record of fire drills and emergency evacuation practices is maintained and available.
