  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. Upon inspection, one staff did not have a criminal record check.

    Corrective action. The director advised the criminal record check has been applied for and she will follow up with the criminal record review board.

  • STAFFING

    Despite this section, during the half hour before a care program begins and the half hour after a care program ends, a licensee may permit children who would otherwise be grouped in different care programs, and who are arriving at or leaving the community care facility, to be grouped together and supervised other than as required under Schedule E if (a) the care program is described as Multi-Age Child Care, Group Child Care (Under 36 Months), Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age).

    Observation. Mixing of groups longer than 30 minutes (at the beginning and/or end of the day).

    Corrective action. Upon inspection, the programs were combined for 45 minutes at the beginning of the day. The director advised she will have the groups divided after 30 minutes.

  • OR SUPERVISION

    Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

    Observation. Upon inspection, the Infant/Toddler Staff to Child Ratio was not maintained.

    Corrective action. The manager advised they are awaiting a certificate for the staff. In the mean time, they are going to look at the schedule and will apply for a staffing exemption if needed.
