    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, a staff changed two children's diapers and did not wash the children's hands after.

    Corrective action. Please ensure children's hands are washed after their diapers are changed.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Upon inspection the following was observed: - Fridge temperature not maintained between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius. - Climbing equipment in the children's outdoor space, located approximately 3.5 ft from the fence. Below the fence is a drop of approximately 10 ft. The Director of Licensing Standard of Practice states that a 1.8 metre (six feet) clearance around equipment is considered safest.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing Officers observed the following: - a wooden doll house, approximately 5ft tall, located in the group School Age program is not secured to the wall and could pose a tipping hazard if a child were to climb on it or in the event of an earthquake. - climbing equipment in the children's outdoor space, located approximately 3.5 ft from the fence. Below the fence is a drop of approximately 10 ft. The Director of Licensing Standard of Practice states that a 1.8 metre (six feet) clearance around equipment is considered safest. This is a recurring contravention.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it area clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there were 2 bottles of room freshener accessible to the children and 2 small pipes of approximately 1/2 foot in height that posed a tripping hazard. * Licensing identified that the outdoor play structure was approximately 3.5 feet away from the perimeter railing with a drop zone of over 10 feet on the other side of the railing which is not per DOLSOP (clearance of 1.8 meters from play equipment)

    Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health and safety of a child.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Upon inspection Licensing observed one broken window with loose glass that posed a fall hazard if the glass fell out onto children.This hazard was corrected at the inspection. *Children had access to a staff kitchen where tools,paint and coffee maker were stored. A gate was put in place at the inspection. * Blind cords were dangling within the children's reach that posed a strangulation hazard *There was one electrical outlet above a crib, exposed, that posed a electrical hazard if a infant was using the crib.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

    Observation. Upon inspection there were approximately 7 dead lady bugs lieing on the window ledge; the paint was peeling off the wall and appeared to be grimey and there was exposed gyprock accessible to the children.
