    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following repeat contravention: - climbing equipment located on a brick surface in the children's outdoor space, which poses a risk of injury if a child were to fall, this is a repeat contravention. - the bathroom that was exempted to be used as storage is being used as a bathroom for staff use. This poses a hygiene risk of contaminants. There were toys and equipment stored uncovered and accessible, this is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. The Licensee confirmed the followng: - a resilient surface will be provided below climbing equipment - the staff bathroom will be strictly used as a bathroom or for open storage; not for both.

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed small cloth towels provided for each child hanging in the bathroom, which were not single use only. The Licensee removed the cloth towels during the inspection. This is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. The Licensee stated that she will ensure that only single use towels will be used.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The Licensee informed Licensing that the program has continued to operate with all of the children in the two Multi-Age programs one group in the large classroom, at times, which is a repeat contravention. During the inspection; Licensing observed that the groups did not exceed group size as per CCLR Schedule E.

    Corrective action. The Licensee confirmed that she will ensure that the group size never exceeds more children than permitted in Schedule E.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. The Licensee said that she has added one 'block' of emergency food and more granola bars to the emergency supplies and confirmed that she has not yet added sufficient food and water to implement the emergency plan but plans to add more. This is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. The Licensee plans to add additional food to ensure sufficient supplies to care for children for 72 hours,

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed all of the 11 children in attendance grouped together with all of the staff while eating lunch. Maximum group size is 8 children for this Group- Multi-Age care type, as per CCLR Schedule E. This was corrected during the inspection when the group of 11 were divided into two rooms with a group of 8 and a group of 3 in separate rooms.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the bathroom that was exempted to be used as storage is being used as a bathroom for staff use. This poses a hygiene risk of contaminants. There were toys and equipment stored uncovered and accessible. It included what appeared to be bags of childrens bedding.

    Corrective action. Please ensure this washroom is used for storage only as requested and approved and not for toilet use, or remove the toys and equipment and it may be used as a bathroom again.

    Observation. There was medication in the medication storage box which expired in December 2020. This medication is required to respond to actions written in a care plan.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that if medication is required that it is available and ready to use.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the evacuation supplies. It was noted that there was only 1 row of crackers, no date of expiry. Staff said there were other boxes stored in the kitchen area. There were a few open boxes in a drawer but limited supply to respond to and recover from an emergency.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a system is developed to mitigate, to respond and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -carpet in poor condition and unraveling at the front door posing a tripping hazard. -items stored near the front door including a child's picnic table located on its side. -hand sanitizer located in the children's activity area accessible to children. -Drywall along the window sill exposed and chipping.
