    Observation. On one morning in November, children did not have access to a properly functioning toilet, as the toilets were not flushing correctly and some were only partially cleared.

    Corrective action. The licensee will ensure that children have access to a proper functioning toilet.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. During inspection Licensing observed in multiple rooms the carpets were visibly dirty and some of them had curled edges, there was also tape on the edges of two carpets. There was also a wobbly table/shelf in one classroom.

    Corrective action. Licensee will walk through each classroom and access the carpets and furniture to identify the items that needs to be repaired and replaced.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed multiple storage cupboards and cabinets that were not locked and were accessible to children. There were staff personal belongings in the storage cupboards and bleach was observed in one under the sink cabinet. The Manager said there is a key to lock the cupboards and Licensing observed child safety locks on most of the cabinets, however, they were not locked/latched.

    Corrective action. Manager said they will remind staff to keep the cupboards locked and also add safety locks to cabinets that do not have any.

    The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

    Observation. Review of care plans observed four were not reviewed and updated yearly, they were also missing dates, signatures and details related to medication.

    Corrective action. Manager said she will update and review care plans with parents today and ensure information is accurate and it is signed.

    Observation. During inspection licensing noted the staff to child ratios were not maintained, there was one ECEA educator and one practicum student in a Group Child Care (30 months to School Age) program.

    Corrective action. Please ensure staff to child ratios are amintained according to Schedule E.

    Observation. During inspection licensing observed medication required for a child in care was expired, staff said that the parent was notified and will be providing new medication.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to check expiry dates on medications and have them renewed immediately.
