Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following: - diaper cream stored on a shelf in the bathroom within the reach of children - sunscreen stored in a basket in the naproom, within the reach of children - lysol wipes and nail polish remover stored in an unlatched drawer in the naproom
Corrective action. The manager removed these items; ensuring that they are no longer accessible.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. A large uncovered empty sandbox in the children's playground has filled with several inches of standing rain water, posing a potential hazard.
Corrective action. The Licensee has not been taking children to the outdoor play space since November; due to muddy areas. Children have been using a nearby park for outdoor play. The Licensee will remove the standing water and ensure that the outdoor play space is safe at all times.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - visibily soiled walls in areas of high traffic throughout the facility, including areas where the drywall is exposed - the carpeting in the children's nap room is lifting on the corners throughout the room; causing a tripping hazard
Corrective action. The Licensee will be repairing the walls and the carpeting

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Emergency Supplies are insufficient to implement the emergency plan
Corrective action. Licensee will obtain sufficient food and water to implement the emergency plan for 72 hours.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Of the four children's records reviewed, one did not include immunization status and one did not include an MSP number.
Corrective action. Licensee will obtain this information and add to children's records.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. A Criminal Record Check for one of the four staff is not site specific.
Corrective action. The Licensee has applied for a site specific CRC for this staff.

Observation. Children in the School Age program were eating snack without washing their hands prior.
Corrective action. Staff stated they do usually wash hands but forgot this morning. Staff will ensure that handwashing occurs before each meal
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Sibling groups were signed in on the same line on the attendance sheet by their last name and marked as x2 indicating 2 children from the same family.
Corrective action. Each child must have attendance documented. Moving forward, staff stated they will enter each child individually on the attendance.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. A review was done of 8 staff files and 6 staff have cleared criminal record checks that are not site specific and one is expired
Corrective action. Manager will be applying for all staff under the new facility account and will complete staff files.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. A review was done of 8 staff files and 4 are missing reference checks.
Corrective action. Manager stated they have them off site and will add to their files.
12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for three employees.
Corrective action. Manager will obtain immunization status for those staff and will complete their files.

A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation. Staff that provides transportation by driving the 14 passenger van, does not have a valid first aid certificate on file.
Corrective action. Manager will follow up with the staff to see if it has been renewed. School is back in session next week and children must have access to someone with valid first aid in the van.
