A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

Observation. Licensing observed a potty in the outdoor play space in a sectioned off area where children do not play. The manager explained that after children use the potty; the urine is covered with soil and children wash their hands using the hose and handsoap is not provided. The Licensee confirmed that children use soap when they wash their hands after using the toilet inside.

Corrective action. The Licensee confirmed that the outdoor potty will be removed and children will use the indoor toilet where they will wash their hands with soap and water.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. The Manager's name is not posted.

Corrective action. The Licensee will post the Manager's name.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. A CRC has been obtained for a staff; however, it is not site specific as required.

Corrective action. The Licensee will ensure to obtain a site specific CRC for all staff.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. ECE certificate validation has not been obtained for a staff.

Corrective action. The Licensee will obtain ECE certificate validation.
