A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.

Observation. A first aid kit was not accessible.

Corrective action. The licensee will ensure that a first aid kit is readily accessible.

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

Observation. Staff explained that children wash their hands after using the toilet; however, a routine is not in place to wash hands before eating. In addition, cleaning supplies are not available for staff to clean and sanitize tables prior to children using the tables for eating.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. The manager's name is not posted.

Corrective action. The licensee will ensure to post the manager's name in a prominent place.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. A photograph or digital image of each of the 6 children in attendance was not obtained.

Corrective action. The licensee will ensure to obtain a photograph or digital image for each child.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.

Observation. A log has not been maintained.

Corrective action. The licensee will ensure that a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children is kept.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. A record showing date of birth and immunization status was not obtained for any of the 6 children in attendance.

Corrective action. The licensee will ensure to obtain required records for each child in attendance.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. The date of enrolment was not obtained for any of the 6 children in attendance.

Corrective action. The licensee will ensure to keep a record of the date of enrolment in the community care facilty for each child.
