  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a garden hose accessible to the children. The Manager removed the hose during the inspection.

  Observation. LO observed and discussed with the Manager about below items not secured: - Over 4ft dresser in the nap room is not secured/ anchored against the wall - TV in the main play area placed on top of a 2ft shelving unit

  Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. No record of Emergency drill for 2023. Last emergency drill was practiced and recorded on Nov 2022. The manager stated that it was practiced (summer) but not recorded.

  Corrective action. Ensure that current records respecting fire/emergency drills are kept.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing noted a certificate was not validated by the ECE Registry.

  Corrective action. The Licensee validated the certificate on site. A copy will be placed in the staff file. Ensure staff who hold an educator or assistant certificate have their certificate validated through the ECE Registry.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The kitchen cabinetry is showing signs of wear.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all furniture, equipment and fixtures are clean and in good repair.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The following was observed inside the facility: - Plastic bags were stored in a kitchen drawer that is accessible to the children. The following was observed in the outdoor play area: -There is insufficient fall zone clearance around a little tikes slide.
