- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. - The highchair has a cloth cover placed on the seating area/head rest. The cover appears dirty in some areas. This surface cannot be cleaned and sanitized daily. - Walls and door casings appear covered in finger prints and is visibly dirty.
Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. - 5 large wooden storage cabinets are placed in the nap room and play room. They are approximately 4 to 5 feet in height and are not secured to the wall. This poses a hazard for the children should they fall.
Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. A selection of children's files were reviewed. Out of the 5 reviewed, a care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent for one child.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. LO observed and discussed the below fall/ strangulation hazard with staff today: Nap room: Over 7 ft height heavy bookshelf is not anchored and safety secured against the wall. Various electronic loose cords were accessible to the children within the nap room.
Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with staff onsite: Outdoor area: Garbage spread out by the main entrance ( daycare door). A wooden gate used for the staircase is broken. A panel of a loose fence is coming off creating a large gap and requires fixing.
Corrective action. Ensure that facility is clean and in good repair while children are in care.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Washroom: a cough syrup over the counter (sink) and cleaning supplies ( bathroom cabinet) were accessible to the children. LO noted that child safety lock for the cabinet is broken. Laundry Room: the door was unlocked/ open and the children had access to the laundry room where various cleaning supplies are stored on top of the laundry machines.
Corrective action. Ensure that children have no access to any hazardous objects or substances.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation. No care plan available for a child requiring extra support.
Corrective action. Ensure that appropriate care plan is developed in consultation with the parent for the child requiring one.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During the inspection the licensing observed the following; - the cupboard under the sink in the kitchen was left open and children had access to hazardous substances such as dish detergent and cleaning supplies. This action was corrected during the inspection. - the cupboard under the sink in the bathroom contained hair dye containers. Children had access to this cupboard. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any hazardous substances.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - OR SUPERVISION
A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation. During the inspection the following were observed: - four school age children were playing camping in the play area unsupervised. The door to the play area was shut at the time of the inspection preventing active supervision of the present children. - two young children were wondering outside into the back yard without active supervision. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective action. Please ensure children are supervised at all times.
14060 - CCLR s.39(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
If a person prepays part of the cost of services provided by a class of community care facilities designated by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, the licensee must, at the time of the prepayment, deliver to the person a written statement setting out the terms and conditions on which a refund of all or any of the prepayment will be made.
Observation. During the inspection the licensing noted there was no policy regarding prepayment agreement.
Corrective action. Please ensure all parents have access to the prepayment agreement.
13080 - CCALA s.19 - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. During the inspection licensing observed the following: - there were 6 children enrolled and only one child had an emergency kit present in the emergency bin. - emergency supplies were insufficient for implementing in case of emergency. Although there was enough water there was no food available in case of emergency. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective action. Please ensure there are enough supplies to mitigate, respond, and recover from any emergency.

Observation. The gate at the entrance to the backyard is in disrepair. The section of wood with the gate latch is no longer attached to the gate.
Corrective action. Please ensure the fence is repaired to ensure that the yard is fully enclosed.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - There is currently one child enrolled in the facility. The child is provided with 1 towel to dry their hands after handwashing, the towel is not replaced often. With the current precautions in place, a single use towel or disposable paper towel should be used. - The children's toys are cleaned weekly by spraying bleach on them. - There is an excessive amount of toys accessible for the 1 child. All the toys do not appear to be cleaned regularly. - Toys that are not easily cleaned are still accessible to the children (stuffies, paper blocks) - Frequently touched surfaces are not disinfected twice per day
Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A mat used for sleeping is ripped on the corner. The surface cannot be cleaned and sanitized appropriately. - A white shelf used for toy storage is showing signs of wear. The surface has become porous and cannot be cleaned and sanitized appropriately. - The bottom parts of the kitchen cabinets have become porous and cannot be cleaned and sanitized appropriately.
Corrective action. Please ensure the furniture, equipment and fixtures are clean and in good repair.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Licensing noted the sign in/out is being recorded on the daily wellness check completed by parents. On some days there was no sign out time recorded. A discussion was had with the Licensee about a separate sign in/out record as the wellness checks will not be required permanently.
Corrective action. This is noted to be a repeat contravention. Please ensure a record indicating whether the child is absent, present and the time or arrival and departure is on file.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation. The current system in place does not clearly outline the fire drill is completed once each month.
Corrective action. Please ensure the fire drill system is implemented at least once each month.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation. The current emergency evacuation system does not clearly identify the emergency plan is implemented once each year.

The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. Criminal Record Checks have not been obtained for 2 observed adults that currently reside in the home. The licensee stated applications have been submitted but no clearance has been obtained. A plan will need to be submitted to Licensing immediately.
Corrective action. This is noted to be a repeat contravention. Please ensure clear criminal record checks have been obtained for persons ordinarily present on the premises of the facility.
