A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Licensing observed the fire extinguisher is over due for servicing.

Corrective action. Ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced annually.

The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

Observation. Licensing noted criminal record checks for 2 individuals over the age of 12 who are ordinarily present were not available.

Corrective action. Ensure all individuals who are ordinarily present on the premises have obtained a current and valid criminal record check.

A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.

Observation. Licensing observed that garbage bin within the washroom had no cover (lid).

Corrective action. Ensure that a covered container is available for soiled diaper/pull ups.

Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

Observation. Multi-Age CC, incl. none under 12 mo. - Maximum group size of 8 was exceeded. There were 10 children in care.

Corrective action. Ensure that staff:child ratio is maintained as per Sch. E of the CCLR.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. LO observed 10 children in care and only 6 were signed in.

Corrective action. Ensure accurately record children's attendance incl. the time of arrival, departure and absence.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed 6 children in attendance, but 5 children signed in.

Corrective action. This is noted to be a repeat contravention. Ensure a record showing the child's daily attendance is on file.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A random selection of children's files were reviewed. Out of the 4 reviewed, 1 did not contain information about the child's immunization status.

Corrective action. Ensure a record showing the child's immunization record is on file.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. Upon entering the facility and looking at the licenses posted it was noticed that the manager's name was not displayed.

Corrective action. Please ensure that the name of the manager is displayed in a prominent place.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

Observation. A review of the policies of the facility showed that an Active Play Policy was not in place. Licensing observed the children engage in outside play during the inspection. When asked, the manager was able to describe that the children go outside twice a day, however an Active Play Policy was not in place.

Corrective action. Please ensure an Active Play policy is created and shared with the parents.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 children's files and 2 files were missing information regarding the child's gender.

Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are completed.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Licensing observed 7 children in care but only 6 children were signed in on the daily attendance sheet.

Corrective action. Please ensure all children are signed in daily on the daily sign in sheet.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - One child under 36 mos was placed in a rocker and was fed yogurt and a cookie. The rocker was at an incline and posed a risk for choking. - After waking up from a nap the children were asked to sit at the table. All children were observed to not wash their hands before sitting down.

Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.
