    Observation. Licensing observed Lysol toilet bowl cleaner, Fantastik and large garbage bags accessible to the children in an unlocked cupboard in the children's bathroom.

    Corrective action. Ensure hazardous substances and objects are not accessible to the children.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed a rubber playground tile loose and part of that tile is pushed further down into the ground creating a tripping hazard. The Manager has informed the Licensee and a contractor is in the process to fix this.

    Corrective action. Ensure the playground tiles are replaced and no longer a hazard.

    Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager: Outdoor Play Area: A missing fence (approximately 5ft x 6ft). Currently this area is enclosed by approximately 4ft height chicken wire mesh and orange plastic safety fence. This is temporary barrier/fence and should be replaced with a permanent fixture.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During the inspection the licensing observed the following: - Three light poles were protected by a wire mesh which was torn and has come apart from the wooden fixture. The mesh was sharp and rusted in places presenting a hazard to young children. - A hole approximately 8 inches by 8 inches and 4 inches deep beside a tree in the play area presented a tripping hazard. - A watering hose at the back of the playground presented a tripping hazard.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

    Observation. During the inspection it was noted that the Active Play and Screen Time policies were not in place. When asked about the policies, the manager was able to verbally state what the policies were but she was not aware of where she might find such policy at the facility.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the Active Play and Screen Policy is available to staff and parents.
