- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.
Observation. Licensing observed the diaper change table located in the nap room.
Corrective action. Ensure diaper changes occur in the bathroom next to a wash basin and a covered container for soiled clothing.
15010 - CCLR s.14(4)(a) - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available.
Corrective action. Keep on file a current and valid criminal record check for all individuals over the age of 12 who are ordinarily present on the premise.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The following was observed: -Indoors the facility is visibly dirty; this was noted on floors, baseboards, window sills, bathroom step stool, etc. -In the outdoor play space the fence on the west side of the outdoor play space is rotting in multiple spots and some boards are no longer secured. -In the outdoor play space there was animal feces where children play. Some piles were picked up and disposed of at the time of inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure the facility is clean and in good repair.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area: - A fresh pile of animal feces. A staff took children outside to play upon Licensing's arrival to the facility. The animal feces was not picked up despite children playing outside and having access to it. The Manager said she would clean it up. - It appears an animal is digging in the backyard and leaving potholes around the outdoor play space. The potholes could cause a child to trip and fall. The Manager said they are in the process of fixing the backyard. Licensing observed the following in the indoor play area: - A ledge in the nap room, play room and fire place area is not covered and could cause a child to injur themselves should they trip and fall. - The material on the children's chairs are starting to chip away making the surface porrous. The Manager said they noticed this during the increased cleaning through Covid-19.
Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all time.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation. A selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the 3 reviewed, 2 employee Criminal Record Checks were not current(expired). The Manager said an application has been submitted for 1 of the employees and the other employee will not be working this year.
Corrective action. Ensure a current and valid Criminal Record Check is on file.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. During the inspection of the physical facility the following was noted: - Two holes of approximately 2 inches by 2 inches and 3 inches deep, were present in the playground creating a tripping hazard. - One cement block was tittering when stepping on. This created a fall hazard. - The cement supporting the shed was exposed creating a hazard for young children. - The side panel of the shed has some jagged edges at the bottom creating a hazard for young children.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the play yard is in good repair and maintained at all times.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection of the bathroom, licensing observed a bottle of Lysol bathroom cleaner under the sink; this was accessible to children.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any hazardous substances.
