A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. A cement transition located directly in front of the gate leading to the backyard has eroded and presents a tripping hazard

Corrective action. Corrective action plan required

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Verification was not obtained regarding the ECE certificate of the facility manager

Corrective action. Obtain validation of the ECE certificate

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager: - Soiled diaper in a plastic bag in the bath tub; this must be disposed in the bin with a cover

Corrective action. Ensure to follow adequate health and hygiene; diapering practice.
